Investment & Exit Data
City level investment data is helpful in understanding the maturity level of a tech ecosystem. Venture Capital is a signal of trust into a company, but also its support network, as investors can only contribute to a certain extent to the success of a founder team. If a VC invests into a company, he also expresses his trust in the community. As capital is extremely cautious, a high inflow of Venture Capital shows also that the expected benefits are outweighing any regulatory downsides. However, beware that investments are slow and the investor’s choices most often are confirming years of positive ecosystem developments.
Based on dealroom data we are providing a city level overview of total VC funds raised per year as well as Exits realized. This data is the most complete we have on a European level, but far from satisfactory. To have a complete view of investments in a hub, local research is inevitable. Use the below table to compare investment levels as an average of 3 years from 2013-2015 vs 2016-2018 as well as the growth between these levels. Annual investment levels are listed as well but show quite high fluctuations.
